At least three people were wounded when
security forces fired live ammunition on crowds of people were stepping out of
two mosques, intending to launch a protest in Zanzibar, Abyan province, to
commemorate what is called "Zanzibar Massacre", when the Yemeni
security forces murdered 15 of protesters on June 23, 2009.
Eye-witnesses said to the Aden News Agency that
armored vehicles belong to the Yemeni Central Security Forces and the General Security
besieged the two mosques of Al Hajj Ajmed, and Al Jameia, in the city in order
to prevent the people from staging the protest.
The eye-witnesses added that security forces
started firing directly when the crowds of the people who were praying got out
of the two mosques which caused at least three wounded.
One of the injured is called Rashed Al Mini,
and another called Abad Khamees.
Motorcyclists said to Aden News Agency's
correspondent that the police and the Central Security ordered them not to
drive their motorcycles this morning, imposing a situation like a curfew in the
city.
Separately, a massive explosion was heard in Aden, the largest city of the south of Yemen, this
evening, while there are no material or human losses.
The IED
is believed that it aimed a patrol of the Central Security, which permanently stations
in that place, which is located in a busy place contains a number of markets.
